DEEP Brewing is a concept forged in the depths of the mind of 9-time Aquanaut and former scientific diver Ryan S. LaPete.
Hailing from Tallahassee, Florida, Ryan spent 2 years running recreational dive charters and spearfishing in Panama City Beach while going to school at Florida State University for Underwater Crime Scene Investigation. Ryan was then recruited out of college to work at a scientific and saturation diving facility in Key Largo called Aquarius Reef Base, where he worked as a boat captain, technician, mission specialist, and Aquanaut for several NASA, NAVY, and civilian projects over the course of 7 years.
Along the way, a best friend and spearfishing buddy introduced Ryan to the wonders of Belgian Abby and Trappist beers. This revelation opened the door to another type of expedition... The seed had been planted with the desire to taste and record the exploration of new and exciting beers. Ryan enjoyed learning the history and culture surrounding the development of historic styles and the interesting ways.
After moving to Downtown Miami to support his wife's career as a national tax consultant and spend more time at home with their 2 year old son, Ryan picked up the hobby of homebrewing. Ryan quickly became obsessed with the science, the process, and of course the equipment used to make Avid and award winning homebrewer, Ryan dreamed of doing something more than making a few gallons of beer at a time on the balcony of a 17th story condo in Miami
A passion for science, a desire to create, and a love for great beer combine into artful interpretations of historic styles and depth defying experiments in zymurgy!
